Norton 961 owners are having a display of their machines at the Elk Promotions Classic Bike Show held at Ardingly on the 23rd October 2016. Their stand will be located next to Surrey NOC stand.

As far as we know it this will be the first time 961 owners have displayed their bikes and will be available to answer any questions by members of the public.
The bikes on show will all have been used on a regular basis and not bought for show.
We will quite happily answer any questions honestly and give members of the public a chance to speak with someone who has experienced the good and dare I say it the bad bits of ownership.
We have asked the factory to supply some input and will wait and see.
If you have ever thought of buying one, interested in how they perform, run or don’t on occasions then please come and say hello.

I have cross posted this as I am aware that some members will not read posts that they do not consider relevant to their particular model.

We have had a very late drop out of a machine. Therefore if anyone wants to stand in I will make the necessary arrangements. If nothing else you will have a day at the show and somewhere warm and dry to park your bike. Any takers contact me asap.

Hi guys , I would of loved to bring my new dominator but it's gone back again with a second oil leak and it never ticks over and tends to cut out at traffic lights !!! Oh and a pig to ever get into neutral .
Oh well rant over I do have patients as I'm sure the brilliant guys from Crazy horse will sort it via Norton .
Oh and I'm from Cambridge uk

We could meet up halfway one day when your bike is sorted if you fancy it?

Sounds a plan Eddie ! Will keep you posted on the domi progress , they said at the crazy horse , Norton had sent them a faulty mod so fingers crossed the new mod will be fine and dandy :) they are collecting the bike and dropping off so no sweat for me

I'm intermittently having the low idle to stalling also, however, it starts up quickly and clears up on most occasions. For me, an annoyance more than an issue. As for the finding neutral, my original tranny was very easy shifting and to find neutral, but that tranny blew. Was fitted with an upgraded one and was promised how smooth it is. At first, it wasn't. But Stephen Green @ Norton assured me it was because its a new tranny being installed with a broken in bike. Well, after 3 thousand miles more, the tranny shifts like butter and I can easily drop it into neutral from top OR bottom. I'm hoping you the same results after a few more miles.

Check if you still have the plastic plugs fitted between the fuel injectors. If one is missing you have problems of false air in idle and stalling may occur.

Hi Tony Whats stopping you?

Money , time , distance in that order. We will be taking a trip to England last week of August 2017 .

Ok Fair enough.
But make sure that you let us know the details if you have time to meet up when in the UK.

I would like too thank everyone who made the effort to attend and make it a positive day. I would also like to thank Surrey NOC for allowing us to tag on to their stand and for the loan of one of their posters when ours did not turn up. All in all a positive day with lots of questions. Hopefully we will be back next year bigger and better. I will post some photos soon

Looks like that first 961 in black trimmed his side stand down a little. Nice photos. Thanks for posting them.

Phil did not arrive with his until after the initial photos were taken. I am awaiting further photos from the branch photographer (amongst his other roles). I will post them then. And I do hope that your comment is meant in jest.

From what I can gather being sat on a bike in a garage spinning it over and not starting only to look down and find the wiring loom, plugs and caps covered in fuel - is not in jest, it is lethal, thankfully Phil can tell the tale.

Riding down the motorway is also potentially lethal, but a bit melodramatic. I have spoken to Phil at length regarding the problem, as no doubt have you. I didn't think that he had a garage but I might be wrong. In any case if you have ever worked on bikes, cars or anything with a petrol engine and not had some form of fuel spill you are very lucky. The cause of the problem seems to be a poor fitting gasket/pump. I had a small tear in my gasket. I got it fixed. No drama. I am not demeaning Phil's problems. He has had a few, but I am saying it needs to be dealt with in perspective. Regards Graham
