The cover can be removed and a thicker gel pad can be installed. I personally don't find the seat that horrible. But then again, I didn't ride cross country. The most I've done is 250 in a day.
Yes for much longer rides I have an airhawk (amazing comfort).
But just for day to day commute since I was converting to single seat had option of older vs newer seat.
By far the BEST looking seat is the MK2 . When the bike is for show put the MK2 seat on. The Mk1 feels better to me but it is more broken in , they are both the same width . It may not seem like it in the photo. Its hard to argue with that logo..
