Folks,

Last night I went to see the latest James Bond flick - Spectre. In the always enjoyable scene of James visiting gadget man "Q", I swear I could see a couple of 961s in the background, up on lifts, being "worked on" by MI6 techs.

Maybe this is old news?

In any case, it was worthy of me elbowing the wife in the theater and excitedly pronouncing my sighting, to the dismay of the folks next to us.

Not the best Bond ever, but cars, girls, and stuff blowing up. And a Norton or two.

Do you have one of the new bikes yet? I want to hear your impressions of one from the track.

No Dave, don't be silly. I'm spending all my extra money buying islands in the Caribbean.

... But seriously - There have been some discussions. I do plan on getting one on the track soon.

It's the obvious evolution. 8)

I have only ridden one around the block and I don't know how it will do on the track. It felt very tall for a racer.

But Kenny Dreer did a bit of testing at PIR with the prototypes and he was known for not being slow, so I assume it will do ok.

Norton announced that their new Domiracer bike is in the film a month or so ago on Facebook. I hadn't heard about 961's as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to get more than one bike in there.

Aha, then that's what I saw - the Domiracer. It's in the background of a scene, a bit fuzzy (it's a "moody" place, Q's shop), and I really could only make out the telltale timing cover and the front end, which looked pretty aggressive.

I will be entering a 961 in the AHRMA circuit next year. I will have it at Roebling in February. Alex McLean, Cindy McLean, Stan Keys and I are starting a little Norton race team, with Nortons from 1938 through 2015.

We should talk. As the season goes by, we might need to collaborate on what can be done to make the 961 more race worthy.

Absolutely, John. Good job.
Yes, we will talk. Let's get them out there, going fast!

I saw Spectre a few days ago. I was pleased and disappointed at the same time to see a blurry shot of the Domiracer on a jack stand in Q's shop instead of wailing around London chasing a DB10 around.
