I couldn't open my dipstick by hand because it was too tight.

And I didn't want to scratch the finish on the dipstick.

So, I drew and printed this:

If anyone else wants to print it, my file is HERE

Wish I knew how to use a 3D printer.
Great work.
It's pretty common that places will print them for you now.

If you know someone who has one, that file is basically ready to go and it's a really straightforward print.

For those without a 3D printer… Ollie Thiele sells similar…
Yes FE , I took your advice , bought one and can say it works well. I have come to grips with the tightening/over tightening of the oil dip stick and seldom need to use the tool now. Definitely , DO NOT use the tool to tighten the dip stick cap ! Only just finger tight.

After having problems loosening mine after a factory service , I made a tool for next time. Curiosity got the better of me and I wondered just how tight it needed to be before it leaked, so I tightened it just finger tight and still do and in 17,000 miles it has never come undone once. It's as if it tightens itself up as you go along............Spooky.

Hi @glb

Good to see it getting used.

So, there was/is actually a "version 2" of this. When I drew it originally, I kinda viewed it as disposable and done for a purpose. That's easy for me - I just print another one. But maybe not so helpful for others.

V2 tilts the angle of the head of the tool. This improves clearance and also strength as it changes the angle of the shear plane of the print/tool.

The link to that file is here: 961Toolv2

So with the Norton insignia, the part becomes an unauthorized "genuine Norton" tool.
Impressive!;)
