Could I trouble someone to please give me a step by step guide and valve installation for the 850 head?

I'm not going to try this myself but I would like to know how the process goes. The shop manual does not go into enough detail for my skill level.

What I gather from the manual. Heat the head (in neighbors oven), press the guides with correct tool, insert the valve, validate the seating. The seats on the head were recently machined. Do the replacement valves come out of the package ready to go or will they need some machining? Whats the trick if valve and seats don’t match up so well? Any input would be much appreciated

Thanks,
Mitch

Re: 850 Guide and Valve Installation

You may have destroyed the head, sorry to say.

AT A MINIMUM, the head should have been heated and a proper guide drift used to insert them without damage.

If you are lucky, you can get away with a competent machinist reaming out the guide bores and installing oversized guides USING THE CORRECT PROCEDURES.

Hopefully, you haven't also damaged your pistons and who knows what else.

These aren't space shuttles, but they also aren't stone wheels.
