Looking through my pile of bits which is slowly moving towards a complete bike, I have a new pair of Premiers, never fitted to a head, which I bought locally. The boxes are marked as 932, but the carbs are 930s.
At present I have a pair of 932s with the long bellmouths, (attached, with some form of epoxy filler to smooth the gap between the bellmouth end and the carb throat) using a foam filter. The bike was running ok, but the chance to acquire a pair of Premiers was too good to pass on, especially as I thought they were 932s as well
Thinking about it, I have the following options:
1. Convert the Premiers to 932s, either by boring them out or by swapping bodies (carb bodies that it, I doubt that there would be much of a market for my own ). Anybody here interested in downsizing their carbs?
2. Leave the 930s on the shelf and keep running the 932s while sorting out a better filter arrangement
3. Put the 932s on the shelf and fit the Premiers (with appropriate manifolds, I have a selection of these), and use a standard air filter (need to acquire the filter bits though)
Just to recap, this is an 850 with JS lightweight pistons (approx 10.5:1), PW3 cam, mildly ported head, used mostly for blasting around the small roads and some trackdays (assuming that the world will return to normal at some point).
Personally, I'm leaning to no.1, then no.2, but am interested in other opinions.
