It is out of the weather, under a roof but not fully inclosed. Unfortunately it's got a TR-3 engine so it may not be worth restoring as is. Maybe one day when one of us has finished restoring all the motorcycles we have...

I was out cleaning it up this afternoon. Just on a whim I decided to turn the gas and ignition on and give it a kick, second swing and it lit up. Should I mention I was in flip flops? :mrgreen:
 
Ahh, good point, but you have potential, bike does look good. I forgot to ask, but are you putting norton on the tank?

Ok, the bike got out for the show and now it's time to finish it up.

I'll put it back up on the bench and start tearing apart the wheels. The plan is to strip the wheels down to the bare hubs. Polish and rebuild the hubs with new bearings. Then ship to Buchanans for new rims and tires.

The correct tank mounts are on the way from Walridge. The other item I need is the correct muffler mounts. It will be cheaper to get them from England. I need to call Mick Hemmings to see how much the charge for shipping.

Also start working on a title and registration.

Paint the tank and sidecovers. And get the front disk ground. Finish bleeding the front brake.

I have about 6 months before the riding season starts next year. That gives me some time...

I will get the fairing from my brother at some point. My uncle is taking his RV to the east coast this year and can bring it back but it won't be until sometime next year. Time to fit the clip ons and stretch the back. :mrgreen:
 
Rallies are so cool. I only got to go to a few after discovering Norton still existed in '99. One of the neatest things done at INOA rallies near the end of the event is gather every bike start-able as close as practical and all at once kick off and Snorton like no tomorrow.
You also discover how few vintage owners bother with online bantering lists.

With well over 6 gallons and the racing seat my ass will give out before the gas does. :mrgreen:
 
Dave has this project been completely finished. I was just thinking how the entertainment level of the forum has diminished since you quit posting benny hill type videos.

Sadly no, I've run out of "play funds" currently. The poor bike is now hanging ungraciously from the garage ceiling with no wheels. I had stripped the wheels down to the bare hubs and was about to send them out to Buchanans for rebuilding.

I did get tires for Christmas so they are also sitting there waiting. So as soon as some funds free up I hopefully will at least be able to get it back on it's feet.

The entertainment level will rise again when we finish the American Norton trailer. :mrgreen:
 
That reminds me, I need to source all of the headlight bits for my proddy fairing...

I have the fairing and bracket coming later this spring, but what else is needed for the headlight?
 
I have nothing but a bare hole in the nose of the fairing.

As far as I know, I need the reverse bowl backside and 3 screws with all the springs, spacers, washers & nuts that form the headlight bulb holder, and also I would sure like one of those clear bullets for the nose-over.
