Trying to bring back a Norton that has sat for awhile and the previous owner had stopped completion on some areas. One of the areas is in the headlight bucket. The wires coming from the green 'bright' indicator lamp are correct. One is blue/white and one is red. The B/W wire goes to the headlight and also into the main harness. The red goes to the shell (ground) and into the red harness. Where the rubber block for the red is there's an extra red wire going nowhere, no terminal on it. Is this another ground and where does it go? The headlight also has two wires to it unlike my 74' which has 3 (to a 3 prang female plug). Is that correct?

That type of (BPF) headlamp plug usually has a female socket attached to it to take an 'earthing sleeve' connector for the third (earth/ground) wire.

The earth/ground connector can just be seen to the rear of the plug in DogT's photo.
