650 update ??

Having worked in the automotive industry the lack of the word Customer prior to order raises a question. At my monthly capacity planning meetings sales orders were separated out into, firm customer, dealer stock and internal sales orders. That told you the real state of demand against forecast, high internal sales did not take long to appear as a track stoppage or track slowdown.

Very true Kommando. Which is also partly why I doubt there are too many 961s in that number, cos there is clearly dealer stock of those.

We don't want to see a bike on a show stand, we want to see them on the road and in owners hands. Re-dressed bikes are not going to cut it it.
If they want to sell bikes, then let the owners sing their praises. For god sake just get on and make them, or put your hands up and admit this is as far as you can take Norton and let someone else with the billions carry on.
The current situation is an embarrassment, just what does an extant WUP and crowdfund request suggest after 10 years in business. Sell out and we can get these bikes in 24 months, otherwise it could be another 5 years.
You expect someone to place a deposit at a show for a JPS version, and come the date of next year's show they'll have no delivery date is shocking - the good thing is many potential owners are now a lot wiser and not taken in by the sales pitch.

Amen

The cf frame is very pretty. I know that cf chassis are used in racing and on top end cars but Norton would have to pay me a LOT to put that into a bend at 40mph lol, I just wouldn't be able to ride it no matter how much I'm told it is safe :)

I just got an email from Norton that says:

Following the private launch of Norton's Crowdcube campaign we have been approached by a single investor who has offered the whole funding amount, independently. This individual is already a fan of Norton and a motorcycle enthusiast, which means the brand and it's community are a focus. The goal of this single investor is to fulfil product pipeline orders and continue to grow the Norton brand“.

Come on then, own up, who’s coughed up the £5m...?

If this comes off properly with a new credible guy in the driving seat it's good news, otherwise its a potential car crash with passengers in the form of good engineers and private investors who need and deserve a soft landing instead coming to harm. Really going depend on a change of driver, if SG hangs around then it is just a delay.

If the new investor does take an acting interest, perhaps he’ll take up some of the offers of free consulting from manufacturing and engineering consultants that’s been repeatedly offered... and declined.

Announcement

Dear all,

We have some exciting and unexpected news ahead of our campaign launching and we want you to be the first to know what is happening.

Following the private launch of Norton's Crowdcube campaign we have been approached by a single investor who has offered the whole funding amount, independently. This individual is already a fan of Norton and a motorcycle enthusiast, which means the brand and it's community are a focus. The goal of this single investor is to fulfil product pipeline orders and continue to grow the Norton brand.

This agreement is under the condition we hold-off our Crowdcube campaign at the moment, but please rest assured we are still interested in having our loyal fans be part of the Norton family. However, for now, we will delay our Crowdcube campaign and let you know at a later date when you can become part of Norton history.

We will continue to keep you updated with our bike range and delivery, so stay tuned for some more news!

Huge thank you for your interest,

Norton

Whoever it could be if they actually exist would not let 5 million go for no return, they would want buy in or guaranteed return or payback. I very much doubt it is a British citizen, I would suggest it is someone close to Kinetic engineering PVT, or Norton Motoroyale PVT, who NMUK have deals with.
A true Norton fan would certainly have seen what has been happening in the past 10 years, they would certainly want SG out of the way for any deal to progress.
He should have sold out to Mahindra when he had the chance, he could have been sat on his private beach as a consultant living of royalties by now.
Personally, this is just more chutney being fed to the gullible.
If you think about it, this announcement just proves the photo of the bikes in Scotland last month saying ''deliveries will commence next month'' was yet more lies. Just why do so many fall for it.

Well I’ve had my people talking to there people & horse playing on the numbers all weekend, & finally in the end we couldn’t agree on % s ,tried hardball & boxing clever , so it ain’t me , how bout Branson ?

I thought the idea was to give an opportunity to enthusiasts to have a share in the Company, part of the future. But now we are not needed? Cheers for that.
