50th anniversary Cafe Racer

I was down in Thetford today, great day for a ride and saw lots of bikes in the forest area but alas I was in the car. It does look like a dent on the cat but I wouldn't say enough to cause any probs, anyway at the rate you are accumulating the miles it will soon be replaced.... dead envious of you :D

The spare licence plate for my Triumph is on the back of the Norton..... wife says 'why have you done that?', I said 'just seeing how the rear end looks my dearest'. Now then, any number plate recognition camera wouldn't know the difference, would it???

You are a very naughty biker. I just hope this information doesn't end up anywhere public like an online forum.......

A clogged cat could cause stalling. hmmm You really shouldn't be going through this. What if you didn't decide to decat the bike? Something you would just have to learn to live with? sigh I know its a PIA, but I wouldn't be waiting for first service interval.

Today I received the black anodised aluminium button head Allen screws, 1 x LHT and 1 x RHT to replace the unused mirror stalks.

Very neat. They finish the job of nicely.

Thanks to voodoo for the heads up on these.

Its not a dent....its so we can use the same pressing top and bottom on the cat box. if you look at the other side the same feature clears the side stand. A de-cat fixes it ;)

Got the quality guys looking at your etching......we will sort when you come in for a service.

Simon

Thank you Simon, much appreciated. Will have to arrange to get it in soon then, looking forward to the new pipe sound track and being able to up the revs as I put some more miles on.

Hi Guys
I've noticed some of the exhausts on the anniversary cafe's posted on here, are not the short stubby ones as were specified in the sales brochure
As the picture of Welsh Rugbys in titanium silver model has the long silencers.

Yes but with the 50th edition, you get a set of short ones but these are fitted after the first service. I will be getting mine soon and really looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to spring which I think is the best time to ride. I love stopping for coffee whether it be in my car or bike but now I have a Cafe Racer, well you just have to. And to go with your Norton and Coffee, can I recommend you
visit: https://www.topcubans.com and get yourself a box of Monticristo No. 2 or 4. Order one box and it should easily slip by her majesty and be half the price if you bought here. Reward yourself for your wise choices.

I see, I didn't know that
Hopefully I will be getting my cafe within next few weeks, glad you said or I would of been querying this with the dealer

The aniversary Cafe comes very well equipped. Short pipes, de cat, billet levers, bar end mirrors, etc. But as already mentioned, you may have to wait for the first service before having the pipes, de cat and re map done.

The only fly in the ointment is that they don’t supply any new Allen screws to replace the stock mirror mount stubs (one of which is a left hand thread), are not needed with the bar end mirrors. Check out the chat on here, you can buy left hand thread Allen screws off eBay, or posh anodised alloy jobs as recommended by voodoo.

Slightly off topic, sorry gentlemen. But Phil (is it Bennett) hope you're watching the match this weekend. Back on topic, tell us about your bike, what model, colour and where from.

Here’s my posh screws... most likely that no normal folk would ever notice, but they finish the job off nicely to my eye.

BTW, take care removing the originals, by my reckoning, the left hand thread should be on the left hand bar and vice versa, but they were t’other way around.

Phil, If you are getting an anniversary model then you will get one set of long quiet exhausts on delivery and another set of either long louder or short and louder still - when orders were being taken on the launch night we could opt for long or short, so the decision is yours. Call Clem if you have any doubts.

Hi Phil - The standard Euro4 compliant long exhausts have baffles in them - the 'open' exhausts are available in long or short form. The short do sound a bit better than the long open which is why most people go for them. My dilemma was that I prefer the look of the long so I got the factory to make some long open with half the absorption silencing missing. According to Clem they sound good - I'll let you know when I pick it up.

Regards Clive

Clive, you’re just weird.

Shorties are the future.

They look ace and sound even acerer !
Agreed imho , but Clive prob likes the long pipes as they are similar to oringinal commando,I was on the fence ,everyone comments on the sound being cool

A simple solution to the exposed mirror thread is to cut the head from a rubber grommet and superglue it in place

I say Sir!
Casting aspersions on a chap's sanity and the size of his exhaust. Through the media of the Internet I smite you across the mazzard and challenge you to a sound-off.

How can such an abbreviated excrescence match the flowing majesty of a pair of long open pipes! I have my suspicions you may be one of those radical full-face helmeted lefties who pollute our noble and ancient sport.

You can’t do that, nor can you turn them upside down, hacksaw the lug off etc as the threads are needed, they are used to mount the brake and clutch reservoir brackets.
