Fortnine is Wrong. 285 Crossplane Twin Engines Do Not Have Better Balance than 270 Twins

Why the 270 Degree “Crossplane Twin” is Suddenly So Popular

The KTM 790 Duke is a naked parallel-twin motorcycle, manufactured by KTM from 2017. The Duke's 799 cc (48.8 cu in) liquid cooled eight-valve DOHC engine uses a 285° crankshaft in order to mimic KTM's 75° V-Twins. Its power output is 95 bhp in Europe (2023-present), and 105 bhp for the rest of the world.

then came the 890 120hp

High horsepower can be all top end and not much lower down. In the end the gearing is a torque converter. If the power band is narrow and high, more gears are needed, amd more are not always enough.
Vibration can rob power. Whatever the revs are at which the motor is vibration-less, the power band must suit it. And the gearing is changed to suit the situation in which the bike is used. It is normal to start by balancing the crank to suit certain revs.
When you play with other than a 360 degree twin, the cam lobes are not at 180 degrees to each other. So everything becomes more complicated and subject to error.

something's up somewhere (could be utube, here or both), above posted prior links now broken/gone, who knows ..whatever

That Fortnine guy not only annoys me, he also brings my "wanker detection" radar up on "full alert".

He is good at what he does, but I’m not saying what he does is always good.

Popularity might be a strange way to develop more powerful motors. I have made mistakes by following trends. Angle of lean in corners is an area where bullshit prevails. If you watch 'Mike On Bikes' , he seems to believe that riders lean bikes in corners. I suggest that bikes lean of their own accord depending on trail and wheel size. If the bike stays more vertical in corners and oversteers in the correct direction, more power can be put on the ground. When two strokes started defeating Manx Nortons, the difference in angle of lean was very apparent. More lean needs better tyres, better tyres do not need more lean to be effective. The power delivery of early two-strokes required the bike to be vertical before full throttle could be used,
