2014 RE-MAP

My Norton dealer in WA just said that Van Epps has just said that they are officially sending out Re-Map software and cables for it to all U.S. dealers next week. My dealer did not know how one or two other dealers already had some re-map software, but it was apparently not really authorized until now...Most dealers, including South Bay, told me there was no authorized re-map in the U.S. until now, but apparently as of next week there is.

So, that sounds like progress :)

Heard same thing today from both Munroe Motors and SBT -- Yahoo!

Norton told me directly that they are sending out the cable for the software (which they had already) with my gearbox to Gold Coast in NY. They got it and remapped me with my repair. He also said they will be sending them out to the other dealerships. That was in December.

Heard the same back in November when my remap was done.
So my remap was "unauthorized".
Damn, I am a bad ass motherbucker!

lol. It was actually South Bay that told me on the phone that no remaps had been authorized for use in the U.S. yet, but that they were working on it...That was Tuesday of this week.

Seems different stories from different people at different times. All I know is that my dealer asked for the re-map software a few times since I bought my bike last year and they have never received them (until hopefully next week). Most U.S. dealers have not had them, but they said all dealers received the same notice from Van Epps this week, a day or two after I had my dealer ask them about it again. Anyone heard yet if it's the same 077 remap, or a new one? For now I just have the South Bay silencers coming to me and I have kept the stock catted X-Pipe, so I also don't know if I even need a remap and/or which remap it should be. Hopefully that will be clear in the package my dealer gets from Van Epps...

Ok...this just in:

Spoke to South Bay just now and they said that what Van Epps is sending out next week is "the interface so that they can create the remap software".

South Bay will be testing the 077 remap on the Dyno to see how it works with their pipes, but they said they are creating their own optimal remap. He still recommended that I do NO remap at all with my new silencers for now, but once they develop a new remap that works best with their decat X-Pipe then getting the X-Pipe would be a better option at that time.

So for now I'm just switching out the silencers and sticking with the factory map until I hear different...as was their recommendation.

Seems like sound reasoning.
You'll enjoy the extra bark from the silencers.
I hope SB can fix the cold starting issue I still have with my X-Piped silencers.

That is what I did with my SF back in November 2013 and there is no pinging, popping, flat spots, or surging! It gets 50 + MPG even in the twisties so traditional thinking says it is lean but it runs great. The OCD in me says maybe it can run even better but since the dealer is a 5 hour round trip and its real cold now I have been waiting for input from SB and Norton before I pull the trigger on a re-map!

PS I often add up to 30% 104 octane Avgas to my tank not because I have to but because I work at the Airport and can get it cheaper! I do this mostly to dilute the ethanol because of the ethanol & plastic tank issues I've had in the past! The bike seems to run fine without it though most of my riding has been with it. I mention it for info only!
