Friday I had sort of a bad day for a Friday! It was 10 1/2 hours long. By the time I got home there was less then an hour of daylight left. The Norton was buried 5 bikes deep in the Garage ( for security and safety ). By the time I got the bike out there was only about 20 minutes of daylight left and getting colder!

I have a loop from my house that is about 6 miles to warmup then 4 miles of great twisties, then 6 miles to cool down! It is about 16 miles total and I can do it in 20 minutes or less if no traffic. I felt like a new man! Isn't that why we buy these things! :D

BPH. That's why they come with headlamps. I'm sure you have layers and gloves. :?

Yes, I need an attitude adjustment myself, and it is just the beginning of riding season here in Florida. Unfortunately, the only twistys here are interstate off ramps

I have the headlamp, layers, and gloves, what do you have for the deer that caused 2 bike fatalities after dusk on the twisties I was on?

Deer. Hmmmmm.....got me there. I guess slow down and have a little less fun. Sorry to hear about the two fatalities. We do have quite the deer population here on Long Island, but they don't seem to come to the road. Never hear of crashes. Just the occasional deer entering a market and freaking out on the freshly waxed floors, then jumping through a pane glass closed door.

I heard about the motorcycle accident with the deer. So sorry to hear that.

We have loads deer here too. My daily commute to work on the bike stops when it's dark in the mornings - always see deer on the way to work this time of year.

I'd like to chime in on my 20min fix. I literally took a 20 min ride last Sunday. It was beautiful out and not dark at 10:30 am. Hit all back country roads.... open farmers fields with hardly any home you can see for miles.

I was in first gear rolling around a 90° corner with the clutch in. I came out of the corner, planned on switching every gear at 7,000 RPM so I rolled the throttle hard and I could feel the roar in my chest from the exhaust (as per Stuarts suggestion don't be scared to "TWIST IT, the bike can take it",) dropped the clutch and the front came right up and I just went with it.... Guessing I was only about a foot off the ground then it slowly came down as it ran out of power ... I continued to flick through the gears as planned. Came to the stop sign about 2 miles up the road.

That 10 second wheelie MADE my entire weekend!!! What a fantastic machine!!! Still smiling 3 days later....

I haven't been doing 7 grand much. Best I came up was about 3 inches. Time to get my confidence back. Cool story.
