I have a 1974 Norton 850 using Emgo 24-71516 6 volt coils. The primary resistance is 2.5 ohm. Are they compatible with Podtronic egnitions.

AFAIK, PODtronics does not make an ignition, they make a rectifier/regulator and that has nothing to do with coils. Also, standard Lucas 6v coils are 1.6-1.8 ohms and the highest Lucas replacement I've seen are 2.0 ohms so it's likely that your meters is not zero'ed or simply off.

I should have said Boyer Ignition, possibly not zeroed.

BTW, the EMGO catalog has this which matches your reading - just not a close Lucas replacement:

I use a double-ended coil from a Honda CB750 with one of the early Boyers. It works well. All the ignition system does is break the circuit at the right time - like points. I think the thing that does it is a Schmidt Trigger.
