1973 750 commando rear brake drum

Good Morning, I need to find a replacement rear drum/sprocket for 73 750 commando. Part # 062764. There is one on ebay listed for a 74 commando. It looks right but has a part # 062194. I checked the parts book for 74 and it listed 062764 same as 73. Whats up? superseded #?? Thanks.

No, just that numbers on castings aren't normally the actual finished part number listed in the parts book, but vendors often assume they are.

Actually the part number for the 1974 Mark II/IIA brake drum is 065512. This part number can be found in the Mark II/IIA Parts Supplement book. I am sure this part is interchangeable with the earlier brake drums. I don't know what the difference could be. Maybe they improved the drive peg installation however that is only speculation. As a matter of fact there are quite a few part number differences between the 1974 and earlier wheel assemblies yet the parts are no doubt interchangeable.

Yes, various rear wheel assembly parts are numbered differently in the 2/2A supplement, however, they are not available and probably haven't been for some time, for instance, you won't find the 065512 drum in the Andover Norton parts search.

The AN drum listed for 1974 is 06-2764.
