You might want to try my act if it’s embarrassment you seek .
While the crowd watches you cooly start the machine with one kick and just as smug as can be ride to the exit , traffic parts for the coolest bike on the planet and as you pull out on to the road it promptly dies because you forgot to turn the fuel back on .
In the interest of full disclosure I’ve done this more than once...
( and that is why I don’t fit oil taps on my bikes )

An update on this rebuild. 3 three hour highway runs over the past 3 days and the engine runs very good. She does not smoke, has lots of oomph, starts and idles good, and handles very good and runs in a straight line. The tach cable leaks oil a bit, maybe because of sustained 3500rpm. I dumped the engine and gearbox oil today and will dissect the oil filter to have a look. I will also go in the primary to check the stator clearance, rotor nut, and chain. If all is well, I can consider this rebuild to be reliable and will turn over to the scheduled maintenance. Total miles after the rebuild is around 500.

ANY problems at sustained 3500 RPM should be dealt with. That is right at the low end of cruising speed with most gearing selections.

3500-4000 RPM is where you want to be trouble free for as long as your butt/back/etc can handle riding.

Tach cable leaked when the bikes were brand new. Various fixes from the old mashing 2 o-rings in there to drilling out the housing to fit a seal. Next could be a breather valve to keep a vacuum in the cases so oil won't want to escape.
