Hi There I have a question I know this has been covered quite a few times but I am looking for reassurance before I continue I purchased a 1970 Norton Commando Fastback last year its been sitting outside for a while covered up so its a little rough but will come good.
I cleaned the fibreglass gas tank & pressure tested it I have a leak around the filler neck assembly no biggy the question is did these tanks come from the factory with a liner my tank was originally red & the inside of the tank is also red but it definatley looks like either it has a liner or a gel coating.
I have used KBS gold on my last Norton & I know they offer a stripper to remove the old liner I just thought I would ask before
I go any further

Thank you

Peter

Fiberglass tanks were usually same color inside as out as far as I know. There was no liner in them from the factory, most likely someone has coated it with something to try to keep the ethanol from ruining it. Decent metal tanks are now available at around $460 as I remember. I'd go that route instead of trying to fix up something that will give you grief later anyhow.

Hi

My tank is greeny black inside but does seem to have some form of brown remains on the bottom of the tank , it has bubbling on the outside and is also flaking on one side a d a bit greasy on the bottom seal ,one of the unions that hold the tap in place has also broken . Other than that it is perfect and I am going to line it with dragons blood and hopefully it will do the job till I snuff it . 69 BRG I have been using it upto six months ago, I think I could still use it now, but you would have to drain fuel after use.
I just would like to have the original tank on and the colours match with rear Tupperware .
