Hi Thrasher,How many links are in the old chain?
Thank you LAB. To clarify, If I assume I need a 99 link chain, do you recommend I order a 100 + 1/2 link? Is this a specification that Jason will understand?Order a chain with more links than it's likely to need plus a half link (so the chain has an odd number of links to begin with) then shorten the chain by removing links or the half-link as required.
A chain with a 'half-link' has an odd number of links (99, 101, 103, etc. links) therefore, that's what you'd need to order if there's the possibility that the correct length chain should be 99 links. To clarify, If I assume I need a 99 link chain, do you recommend I order a 100 + 1/2 link? All clear now LAB.A chain with a 'half-link' has an odd number of links (99, 101, 103, etc. links) therefore, that's what you'd need to order if there's the possibility that the correct length chain should be 99 links.
Make sure the chain you order is sufficiently long enough to be able to remove either the half-link (the chain will then have an even number of links) or full links (making it two, four, six, etc. 'links' shorter).
According to the spares list & service manual:Roy Bacon quotes: For G15, G15CSR and N15CS: 5/8 x 3/8 98 pitches...
Hope this helps.
Although elsewhere he lists: G15 (only) as 97 links
mine has 98 wiyh 19 sprocketHello all,
I am about to purchase a new chain from the chain man. I have a note from I don't know whom that the chain is a 530 99 link chain.
Can anyone verify this?
Thanks,
Ed
