Hi, just purchased a 1967 650SS resto project that I will be starting next year.

1st Featherbed build, but have previously owned an Atlas & a 99

Mostly complete but no front or rear guards, seat, headlight, clutch & minor bits & pieces

Q: Is there a reliable / quality supplier of guards anywhere in the world ?

TIA

Mudguards and seat are the most scarce of Dommie parts.
Good luck finding what you need.

I know of no one making reproductions. That does not mean there are none.

Most anything else can be obtained from AN.

There have been a number of discussions on the UK NOC forum about repro mudguard from India purchased on Ebay. Some say they have purchased acceptable examples. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and there seems a fair amount of luck in what you get. I have always taken the path of purchasing the best genuine mudguards I could find on Ebay and then paying a reputable shop the fortune it cost to have them repaired and rechromed. At least that way you know they will fit. I think a similar approach is the best way to get a decent seat. Find a base on Ebay, repair it and fit new foam and a new cover. Decent foam and covers are available. Good luck. Great motorcycle. Worth the effort.

I totally agree with Bodger, having done 2 slimline rebuilds I have had to pay to get what I had back to a chrome able condition, re seats the best I could get came from RK Leighton in the UK, but the last time I tried they could not supply a complete seat [so I got a cover etc] as they did not have any bases left, may have changed by now but their quality is the best I have seen, later in '67 slimline's were fitted with concentric's and coil ignition at which time were supplied with a seat with a hump which Leightons may have a reproduction of.

I've had three or four of the humped Leighton seats and they are brilliant. Pretty much an exact copy of my original Mercury seat and fit straight on without any issues at all. My only experience of Indian guards wasn't positive, so I'd support those who suggest getting original guards and having them rechromed.
