Hi All.
How much oil do you suggest to put in the primary transmission?.
Usually i put 150cc.
Thanks.

The manual states to fill it to the level plug, but does not state how much this is.

I am a minimalist when it comes to primary oil on my Commando. Mine does not leak, and I use 150 ml vs the 200 ml most other people go with. As long as the the chain is getting a bit wet, that is enough in my opinion.

I am with Derek Wilson. I put in oil until the chain just picks it up when I kick the engine over.
A finger thru the inspection cover tells me when the chain gets wet. IIRC, the manual states 200 ml.

After years of mopping up oil on the left side I spent the money for a belt drive and consider it money well spent. A few folks have been able to make the primary oil tight but most haven't. You're behind the 8-ball with those tin cases.

I don't ride my 68 Atlas for extended periods of time, so I drilled a hole on top and spray with final drive chain oil. The high tack type. Not saying it's right but it works. No drips!
