Hi All.
My 1966 Atlas has Magneto and 12 volt harness.
Stock stator were with three wires GB, WG, GY.
I would replace the stock stator with a two only wires GB and WG.
But the harness has the GB wire that goes first from alternator to rectifier and then starts again to lighting switch (the Lucas 88 SA).
Fitting the two wires alternator must i join the GB from harness with the WG from alternator?.
Thank you for your advices.
Piero

Connect the WG wire from the stator to the WG wire in the harness at the stator.
Connect the GB wire from the stator to the GB wire in the harness at the stator.
The above connections deliver full stator output to the rectifier. You will need a Zener diode to limit the current to the battery.

The GB wire from the rectifier to the lighting switch can be abandoned.
The GY wire from the harness at the stator to the lighting switch can be abandoned.

Are you making this change because the three wire stator is non functional? (gone bad)

Agree with LAB, the two wire stator should be GY and WG. In which case, connect GY from the stator to GB in the harness at the stator. The wires to the lighting switch can be abandoned.

I have a 1966 Atlas. Best thing I did was to install a 3-phase with matching podtronics and my charging problems seem to be gone for good. You can still use the existing rotor if the magnetism is still good. The stator and podtronics cost me less than $200 and has been a very good upgrade.

Hi Slick.
Sorry but something is not clear for me.
If i join GY from stator to GB in the harness where i join GB from the stator?
Thanks Piero

Where i join GB on the harness?

I thought texasSlick had already explained (below) so if that is not what you are referring to then I don't understand what you mean.
