Hi all, can I ask opinion please?

I'm fitting an external filter to my 1961 650 Standard. The filter head has 3/8 fittings, onto which I can just about get 8mm ID hose.

Engine oil block junction is 5/16 OD, Dommi oil tank slightly larger.

Do we think there is any issue with running a length of 8mm hose to and from the filter? I feel 3/8 hose would leak on the 5/16 junction block.

Thanks!
Andy

No problems doing just that (5/16" tubing on 3/8 oil filter barbs) myself. Getting the tubing warm helps get it on the barbs. Getting the barbs warm too helps even more.

Thanks a lot, good to have reassurance!!

I should probably have fitted it when I built it with my father in 1997? 98? :)

Long overdue gearbox rebuild in lockdown, then more recently been making it more usable with new concentric carb, LED bulbs, TLS brake, lined the tank etc. By far the biggest game changer was fitting Avon Roadriders I reckon 👍. Mostly following advice/ review from here.

Going over the Alps on it again in May.

Thanks!

Andy

With the hose warm I insert an appropriately sized pair of needle nose pliers in the hose end and spread it open to help start the tubing.
