06.3092 Cam Follower Lock. Why both long and short versions?

Hi:

It sounds like Dominator's (and presumably some others) originally came with a longer version. Wondering why? Norvil website suggests 06.3092, (the short one) works for both Dominator's and Commando's. From what I can tell it appear's the long versions are no longer available new. So are they superseded by the short version for all applications?

Basically I have a Dominator that needs work on the Cam followers. I am wondering if there is any advantage to the keeping the original long versions, (which are a bit worn) or replace them with the new short version?

Would the short version give the follower additional clearance with high lift cams ?

06.3092 was introduced on the Commando in readiness for the Combat series with higher lift cams and seems to supersede the earlier types.

Well, there are even two versions for Commando's. Pre Combat/ 850 & Combat/850. I believe you need the later for higher lift cams
